ADHD and Autism: Help Your Child Thrive

Challenges & Solutions

Our Solution Series Libraries are developed around a specific parenting challenge. Each Series includes a collection of hand-picked, easily digestible (15 min+/-) videos which unlock a key piece of the parenting puzzle. Read our summary of this Series below then click on each lesson to access the class description, video, handouts, and information about our Expert(s).

This series addresses ways to support your child with ADHD or Autism with low support needs. Many parents of children with special needs report higher than average levels of stress and conflict. Often anxiety or depression can look like misbehavior. Children with special needs may not respond to the discipline techniques that work for other children. Diagnosis like Autism Spectrum Disorder or ADHD require behavioral support strategies that are specific to each child’s needs. Effective discipline is built on empathy and a balance between flexibility and consistency. It’s time to stop just surviving and get the tools you need to thrive and enjoy your relationship with your child as you support their growth and development. Classes included in this series provide strategies to:

  • Help your child make and maintain friendships
  • Establish rules and routines that create joyful family time
  • Become and advocate for your child’s needs
  • Apply positive discipline for children with ADHD or other special needs

CVS Exclusive: Anxiety in Children: What Really Helps?

Challenges & Solutions

Previously hosted live class exclusively for CVS Colleagues. Access the recording and handouts by clicking on the Course Lesson below.

Does any of this sound like your child?

  • Clinging, crying and/or tantrums when you separate
  • Excessive shyness, avoiding social situations
  • Constant worry
  • Avoiding situations or places because of fears
  • Complaints of frequent stomach aches or headaches
  • Sudden and frequent panic attacks

Your child may be struggling with anxiety. And you may feel frustrated and helpless. You are not alone. One in three children will experience an anxiety disorder before adulthood. Unless treated, many will grow up to be anxious adults. This class will help you better understand the nature of anxiety, refrain from reinforcing your child’s distress by accommodating behaviors, and apply simple strategies to handle day to day challenges.

Join us for this quick, practical class that will focus on results so that you will be able to:

  • Apply strategies to quickly include fitness into your day
  • Identify fun ways to include kids in your workouts
  • Improvise new approaches when the perfect workout just isn’t possible.
