About this Workshop

In this recording, Ruth E. Freeman, LCSW talks with Dana LaBranche MA, M Ed . The start of a new school year brings excitement, but it can also bring worry. Whether your child is starting kindergarten, entering middle or high school, heading off to college, or somewhere in between, back-to-school anxiety is common for both kids and parents. Concerns about making friends, meeting teachers, fitting in, handling schoolwork, or adjusting to new routines can make the transition stressful.

This previously hosted conversation talks about helping children manage back-to-school worries. We explore why school transitions can feel overwhelming, how anxiety shows up at different ages, and what you can do to help your child feel safe, supported, and confident. You’ll leave with practical, evidence-based strategies to recognize anxiety, start meaningful conversations, and build simple daily habits that reduce stress and strengthen resilience throughout the school year.
