About This Workshop

OMG’s Emerging Professional Network and Working Parents Network hosted this conversation about the LGBTQIA community.

You don’t need to be an expert in all things LGBTQ to let your kids or colleagues know you care. A great place to start is learning how to be present and open. Just letting people know, “I’m here for you,” can go a long way.

This session will take you even further by providing terminology and subject matter that will help you understand and support members of the LGBTQIA+ community. You’ll have a chance to recognize how your actions and responses can help others and normalize a culture of acceptance and diversity. You will also have time to talk, listen to colleagues, and ask questions throughout the meeting.

After this workshop, you will be able to:

  • Identify positive use of pronouns, how to ask others, and introduce yourself in a way that normalizes the practice for everyone
  • Support LGBTQIA+ people in your family, workplace, and community
  • Advocate for others and become a “radical ally” including how to respond when you witness microaggressions
