Becoming a Parent – Model the Behavior You Want

Expert

Peace at Home Parenting Expert Tanika Eaves Tanika Eaves,PhD, LCSW, IMH-E®

Challenges & Solutions

We all want our children to be calm, kind, and patient. But what’s the best way to influence their behavior?

Start by showing them what that looks like. Kids learn more from what we do than what we say. When we take a breath instead of snapping, or admit when we mess up, they notice. And here’s the bonus! It doesn’t just help them.

Over time, modeling the behavior you want to see in your child can actually change you, too. “Sometimes the best way to teach your child is to practice becoming the person you want them to be.”

Listen in on this one-minute video as Peace at Home expert Tanika Eaves, PhD, LCSW, IMH-E, shares how to model the behavior we want to see in our children.

Looking for more tips like this? Try our Search Tool, Resource Guides, or email Solutions@Peaceathomeparenting.com, and we’ll connect you with proven solutions that produce positive results.
