Parents are reeling from acts of violence in schools. This conversation was hosted following the Uvalde, Texas incident and we were thinking about those families who lost young ones attending school where they should be safe. Sadly this scenario has been repeated too many times since. You may be feeling overwhelmed with fear, sinking into despair, totally disconnected as losses mount up, or shifting among all of these sensations. At the same time, you may be finding it nearly impossible to drop your child off at school but want to protect them from fear. Coming together with others and sharing our experiences is one piece of repairing these emotional injuries.

Is your family the source of your stress or the solution to it?

The answer is likely both. If your family includes several generations of caregivers or if you find yourself part of the “sandwich generation,” taking care of both your children and your own parents, you can still work toward a peaceful home. Join us to better balance the needs and values of intergenerational families for calm and cooperation at home.

We parents of young children have too much to do and not enough time to do it. So certain things fall off the to-do list, and fitness is usually one of the first to go. At the same time, we know deep down that we are more patient and positive when we take at least good enough care of ourselves.
