About this Workshop
Choosing a childcare provider is one of the most emotional and impactful decisions parents make in the early years. Whether you’re returning to work, looking for socialization opportunities, or simply needing support, the process can feel overwhelming—especially if the timing isn’t ideal or your first choice falls through.
Join Susan Abramson, MS, and Cora Megan, MA, for this practical, compassionate workshop designed for parents of children under 5. We’ll help you navigate the big decisions with clarity and confidence so you can make informed choices and support your child’s well-being—no matter what the childcare journey looks like.
After this workshop, you will be able to:
- Identify the hallmarks of a high-quality childcare program, including caregiver qualifications, safety standards, developmental practices, and emotional climate
- Evaluate your options realistically—what to prioritize, what’s flexible, and how to ask the right questions
- Handle less-than-ideal timing or availability—what to do when your preferred program is full or the start date doesn’t align with your needs
- Ease the emotional transition for both you and your child—preparing your child for separation, building trust in caregivers, and coping with guilt or anxiety
- Understand what healthy adjustment looks like and how to support emotional resilience during the first weeks and months of childcare
