Lesson Details

Raising healthy children with an ability to sustain meaningful relationships is a challenge even in the most ideal situations. Add on hormones, attitude, personality, technology and shelter-in-place - welcome to the tween and teen years! This interactive online class will include a conversation about parenting the independent, emerging adult while still nurturing the playful child within.   

We will talk specifically about building relationships during this very unpredictable time. You will have the opportunity to explore making stronger connections through conversation and confrontation in the context of real-life situations. Participants will be able to: 

  • Initiate and maintain an open dialogue 
  • Support your child’s social life 
  • Broach the difficult subjects

Talking to Teens Communication for Connection: Part 2

Lesson Details

It can be tempting to tell our teens what they should do, or how they could have done something better. However, this gives them decreased opportunity to arrive at these conclusions themselves! In this class you will learn: 

  • How to figure out who “owns” any specific problem
  • Strategies to coach kids to gain problem solving skills when the problem belongs to them 
  • The ability to step back and support your teens to become powerful problem solvers 

Course Lessons

  • Recognize and support developmental tasks.
  • Avoid common roadblocks to effective communication. 
  • Apply 4 Steps to effective communication for connection
