Many working parents struggle to figure out a healthy work life blend. We recognize there shouldn’t have to be a choice between work and caring for your family. The McKinsey Report* tells us that parents, “…are facing the choice between falling short of pre-pandemic expectations that may now be unrealistic,
or pushing themselves to keep up an unsustainable pace.” *

We recognize that a work-life blend right now can seem impossible. Technology makes you accessible 24/7 and fear about job loss might drive you to work longer hours. Compounding stress from the never-ending workday can harm family life, health and overall happiness.

This interactive online workshop will provide you with the opportunity to consider the current research related to work-life blend and identify realistic approaches to address your most important challenges.
Participants in this session will recognize that you can’t “do it all” and be able to:
– Identify approaches to communicate with your supervisor on structural changes to work that will support better work-life blend
– Apply strategies that manage boundaries and support recovery
– Recognize the importance of instrumental and emotional social support and plan action steps to develop these resources.

This series addresses ways to support the unique strengths and challenges of gifted first generation college students. First generation college students are more likely to be members of underrepresented racial and ethnic groups, come from low income households, and commute from home. Sadly, these traits are also commonly associated with students dropping out of college. In this series you will explore ways to support your gifted first generation college student including strategies to help you:

  • Build positive relationships with your maturing child
  • Support your child’s social emotional well-being
  • Talk to teens in positive ways and how to give effective feedback
  • Recognize the importance of mindset
  • Effectively foster independence in your child
  • Set limits and reduce conflict
  • Grow your understanding of stress and the brain

Parenting is a demanding job that takes lots of physical and emotional energy. If you are stressed or exhausted it is difficult to be the parent that you want to be – regardless of how much parenting education you seek! Well-being includes your emotional, social, mental and physical health. It depends on feeling like you can cope with daily stressors, having a sense of purpose and generally enjoying life. Parents with a strong sense of wellbeing can manage difficult emotions, make time for supportive relationships and for doing things they enjoy. The purpose of this library is to help you achieve wellbeing by reflecting on your own needs and considering how your personal history may be affecting your parent-child relationships. This series will help you:

  • Recognize symptoms of distress that you may be ignoring and would benefit from attention
  • Consider beliefs and ideas that may be getting in the way of wellbeing and positive parenting
  • Address specific challenges such as getting on the same page with your co-parent and handling stepparenting relationships

What is most delightful and sometimes maddening about children is that they are right here in this moment. They try to bring us into the present, but we often resist – cell phone in hand, shopping list in mind, eyes on the road to the future or worrying about the past. When we spend a lot of time on “auto-pilot,” life begins to feel empty and our relationship with our children can suffer. This series is focused on the meaning of mindfulness, why it is important and explores ways you can bring it into your life right this minute. In this library of classes you will learn ways to:

  • Apply strategies to respond effectively to stress in the moment.
  • Teach these practices to children, from toddlers to high school students.
  • Apply tools to use when children demonstrate challenging behaviors.
  • Make healthier choices with your time and energy to increase family connection
  • Reduce overall stress, anxiety, and depression
  • Use play to connect with each other in happy ways
