About This Workshop

As your child transitions to college life, their overall wellness is crucial for academic and social success. This comprehensive workshop equips parents with proactive strategies to support their college freshman’s mental health and well-being.

Recognizing that the first year can be filled with new stresses and challenges, we’ll discuss concrete ways to guide your young adult toward healthy habits. Learn how to communicate effectively about the importance of self-care, including balanced eating, sleeping, and exercise routines. Gain insights on managing stress, whether it stems from academic pressures, social dynamics, or the adjustment to independent living.

Importantly, we’ll cover how to set up the necessary support systems before problems arise. Discover how to research and facilitate counseling, coaching, or executive functioning assistance tailored to your college student’s needs. If your child had an IEP or 504 plan in high school, we’ll address how to properly transfer those accommodations. Help your child establish clear communication with professors and campus resources, such as writing centers and tutors, to optimize your student’s chance of thriving.

By adopting a proactive, wellness-focused mindset, you can help your college freshman build the skills to stay in school, excel academically, find their social circle, and become happier during their time on campus. This workshop will empower you to guide your young adult toward developing the habits and support systems that nurture mental and physical well-being. Promoting your college freshman’s mental health and overall wellness will position your student for success, both in and out of the classroom, throughout their first year and beyond.
