Welcome Baby, Welcome Back To Work. The transition back to work from Family Leave can be challenging, especially for mothers. They strive to balance involvement in the adult world of work with the biological and emotional changes that accompany a recent birth.  New moms and dads need and will benefit from support from family, friends, and their workplaces. One family friendly option for your company to offer is Peace at Home Parenting Solutions’ Welcome Baby and Back to Work digital program which includes expert facilitated support group discussions, brief recorded classes, and private coaching sessions.

Parents gain easy access to expert information and much-needed support while on Family Leave with their new baby and as they return to work.  During live online support group conversations led by infant mental health expert JoAnn Robinson, PhD, parents ask questions and get solutions for their concerns about feeding, sleep, and their own feelings of overwhelm. Parents are often comforted to know they are not alone in their concerns. JoAnn often includes other Peace At Home early childhood experts to join her conversations and all of our experts are available for private coaching sessions.  Welcome Baby parents can watch brief recorded classes about topics that range from baby temperament and getting ready for childcare to concerns about how working will impact parents’ attachment with baby.

Parent well-being is a key issue for Peace at Home Parenting Solutions and we are ready to offer evidence-based strategies, support and guidance to busy parents making this important transition.

Let’s Get on the Same Page: Practical Steps to Resolve Parenting Style Conflicts

September 28, 2021 8:15 pm EDT

Challenges & Solutions

Previously hosted live class. Access the recording and handouts by clicking on the Course Lesson below.

Each of us grows up in a unique family and when we come together as a couple, we don’t usually talk about our parenting beliefs until children are actually on the scene. The more intentional parents are about sharing their stories and values with each other, the more likely it is that you can agree on parenting approaches.

Mothers often parent in ways that are different from fathers and those differences can be helpful to children, but only if you recognize the strengths of each other’s approaches.. “Marshmallows” often join with “Generals” because in some ways they need each other. But over time your differences can become more dramatic and problematic.

This class will provide concrete tools to conduct productive conversations and respectfully reach some agreements to avoid conflict and decrease the polarization of parenting styles.

Parenting Essentials – Let’s Talk About You

Challenges & Solutions

Our Solution Series Libraries are developed around a specific parenting challenge. Each Series includes a collection of hand-picked, easily digestible (15 min+/-) videos which unlock a key piece of the parenting puzzle.  Read our summary of this Series below then click on each lesson to access the class description, video, handouts, and information about our Expert(s).

Parenting is a demanding job that takes lots of physical and emotional energy. If you are stressed or exhausted it is difficult to be the parent that you want to be – regardless of how much parenting education you seek! Well-being includes your emotional, social, mental and physical health. It depends on feeling like you can cope with daily stressors, having a sense of purpose and generally enjoying life. Parents with a strong sense of wellbeing can manage difficult emotions, make time for supportive relationships and for doing things they enjoy. The purpose of this library is to help you achieve wellbeing by reflecting on your own needs and considering how your personal history may be affecting your parent-child relationships. This series will help you:

  • Recognize symptoms of distress that you may be ignoring and would benefit from attention
  • Consider beliefs and ideas that may be getting in the way of wellbeing and positive parenting
  • Address specific challenges such as getting on the same page with your co-parent and handling stepparenting relationships

Get Ready for Baby & Enjoy the First Year

Challenges & Solutions

Our Solution Series Libraries are developed around a specific parenting challenge. Each Series includes a collection of hand-picked, easily digestible (15 min+/-) videos which unlock a key piece of the parenting puzzle.  Read our summary of this Series below then click on each lesson to access the class description, video, handouts, and information about our Expert(s).

This class series covers the basics for parents from pregnancy through baby’s first year. You know you are about to have a life changing experience but you may not be able to imagine it. Parents who take time to learn about pregnancy and birth tend to have increased confidence during labor and delivery, improved birth outcomes and a higher likelihood of breastfeeding. Learning about caring for your baby and your body before birth will strengthen family well-being.

The early weeks after birth can be confusing and exhausting while you and your baby learn how to manage feeding and sleeping. Learn about your baby’s early needs and development so you are ready to adapt to life with your newborn. Strategies that balance their needs with yours really make a difference.  Infants thrive when parents recognize temperament, how the baby learns, and how your early weeks together can be enhanced when you create rhythms and routines to care for the baby and yourself.

This Peace At Home Parenting Solutions Library provides needed guidance to pregnant and postpartum parents of infants up to one year of age. Participants will be able to:

  • Recognize risks to pregnant women and newborn babies, especially for women of color
  • Identify action steps you can take to protect your health and your baby
  • Work together with your medical provider to help you build a healthy birth through informed consent and other strategies
  • Recognize and respond effectively to your newborn’s needs and cues
  • Identify and apply positive solutions to common concerns during baby’s first year
  • Recognize the importance of self-care to create balance and family well-being, especially when parents return to work
