About this Workshop

Many parents worry about how to support their college student’s mental health while respecting their independence. Watch this previously hosted discussion with Peace At Home founder, Ruth Freeman, LCSW will interview Tanika Eaves, PhD and Jonathan Beazley, LMFT. Tanika is a professor at Fairfield University and Jonathan was a clinician at University of Connecticut mental health services. Together we’ll explore how you can support your college student’s mental health, recognize early warning signs, and stay connected from a distance.

Research shows that many mental health conditions first appear during late adolescence and early adulthood, making the college years a critical time for emotional support and early intervention.  Parents continue to play an important role in helping young adults manage stress, build resilience, and seek help when needed.

This session will help you understand what your college student may be experiencing and provide practical strategies to support their well-being. Whether your child is preparing to leave for college or already navigating campus life, this conversation will empower you with tools to stay connected, support your student’s mental health, and help them thrive during this important stage of life.
